Minors Under 2 Years Old

What to do when traveling with infants?

Learn everything you need to know when traveling with children between seven days and two years old.

Diaper Bag

You can take a diaper bag weighing up to 22 lb (10 kg) and measuring no more than 9.8 x 15.7 x 15.7 in (25 x 40 x 40 cm) as carry-on baggage. It must fit in the overhead compartments of the cabin.

One checked Item

You can check one item for transporting your child (e.g., a car seat; not applicable for checked baggage).

Stroller

Remember that you can also bring a stroller up to the aircraft door and receive priority boarding.

If you travel with a baby, remember:

· Per official regulations and for onboard safety, the adult traveling with the infant can't sit in an emergency exit row.

· One adult may travel with two infants as long as one of the infants travels in a car seat (approved for use on aircraft), paying full fare, and the other infant sits on the adult's lap.

· Infants can't travel if they are suffering from any type of viral illness (chickenpox, measles, etc.). Visit Medical Assistance for more details.

· This service only applies if your baby is between 7 days and 2 years old (if your child turns two before your flight's departure date, you must pay the full fare).

· You must present valid identification for your baby. This may be a birth certificate, passport, or vaccination record that proves their age and identity. For international flights, you must present a passport along with a visa, when applicable.

· The cost of the service is per customer, per flight, and is non-transferable.

Lquids and powders

· Your carry-on baggage may include items such as baby formula, milk, and food that do not exceed 100 milliliters.

· Remember that on all flights to the United States, powdered substances such as milk, chocolate, and powders for water, among others, of more than 12 oz (350 ml) in total can't be transported in carry-on baggage and, therefore, must be placed in checked baggage.

For round trips

If your baby turns two years old during the trip, you will have to purchase an adult ticket for the return flight.

During the Flight

Your baby must travel on your lap or in a car seat approved by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) *. In the second case, you will have to purchase an adult ticket to place the car seat on the seat.

*You can verify this information on the safety labels found on the seat.

Where can I add the Baby Combo?

You may acquire this service in the Customers step during your purchase process or later in the My Trips section.

Consider

Remember that only car seats approved by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) for use on airplanes are permitted in the cabin (verify the information on the seat).
